Depending upon how you are viewing this website you may see a list of dates at the top of the page, or you may see the "hamburger" menu (three lines) - which will take you to a menu with each day of the festival. We've left the walks from the 2024 festival accessible for the time being so that you can see what types of walks and events were put on. Dates for you diaries - the 2025 festival is pencilled in for Friday 25 April to Monday 5 May 2025.
The 2024 festival was a great success over 900 attendees, 50 walks/events and 30 plus organisation involved, and 70,000+ visitors to the website. We grateful to SMDC and Enjoy Staffs for their support.
We always welcome people on board to help organise the festival, not just leading the walks. Get in touch if you might be able to:

A bit of Background
The Staffordshire Moorlands Walking Festival restarted in 2022, one of those mad ideas that came out of lockdown conversations! Both 2022 and 2023's festivals were great successes, each seeing 600 locals and visitors enjoying 40 plus walks put on by a variety of local organisations and businesses; showcasing what a great place the Staffordshire Moorlands is to walk and to visit.
What to Expect
A variety of beautiful local walks, most free*, to suit various abilities and interests all over the Staffordshire Moorlands. Ascend the stunning renowned Roaches with awesome views as far as Wales, enjoy the wildlife roaming our heather filled moorlands, take in the beauty and tranquillity of our local nature reserves, or simply enjoy a peaceful walk at Tittesworth Reservoir or take part in our Staffordshire 3 Peaks challenge.

Where to Stay
The main towns of the Staffordshire Moorlands are Leek, Cheadle and Biddulph, along with our great villages there are plenty of great hotels, bed and breakfasts, holiday cottages, campsites and glamping.
The Staffordshire Moorlands are a perfect stay for local markets, delicious restaurants and traditional country pubs.
We warmly welcome you whether you are local or a visitor to the area. Our guides and walk leaders are proud of the Staffordshire Moorlands and passionate about sharing them with you.
We're putting walks onto the website as we get the information from our fabulous partners. There will be a choice of walks every day.
